Many people get really excited and hopeful about their ‘New Years Eve Resolution’ which last for a couple of weeks than get back to the same old habits. Are you one of them?
This month we will explore the change process. But before we start there is an important step we all tend to forget:
The first step is exploring what we do well, or did well throughout 2016. It gives us the opportunity to practice gratitude for all the things, skills, talents and abilities we have. When we are aware of our strengths it also helps us start the change process with enhanced resources. So instead of shaming ourselves about the things we didn’t do well, we look at things we did well and start from there.
Take 5-10 minutes or even more to think through / write down what you did well in 2016. Flip through your calendar, so you remember. It can be small or big e.g. you gave a pregnant lady your seat on the tube or regularly went to do some sport, or didn’t shout at your child when he came home later than expected.
You can even pat yourself on the back and say ‘well done’ out loud.
Once you spent enough time to appreciate your effort throughout the year you can answer the following question:
What is ONE thing that you would like to change about yourself or in your immediate environment?
Not two, not three.
We are practicing simplicity and focus here.
Throughout January I will share more resources and tips& tricks about the change process, so stay tuned. And if you have any questions please feel free to email or phone me.
Wishing you all the very best to the beginning of the New Year!
